Index of International Openness (IIO)

Conceived in 2001 by Gaetano Ferrieri, the Index of International Openness (IIO) is a synthetic measure of global integration.

The IIO combines three basic dimensions of this phenomenon:

International Trade in goods

Foreign Direct Investment

International Migration

Each dimension is synthesised by a thematic index, calculated through an original and innovative methodology.

The Index of international openness (IIO) is a synthesis of the three thematic indices.
